Previously a Bloomington Campus center, since 2011 the CHMTL is an interdepartmental center of the Jacobs School of Music, operating in collaboration with the Musicology and Music Theory departments, the William and Gayle Cook Music Library, and the Music Information and Technology Services of the School.
We deal with research projects and there is no curricular teaching, but CHMTL employs graduates in academic disciplines who receive training and have the opportunity to develop skills in computer-based research, editorial and web-publishing practices. Graduate and PhD students, mostly in Musicology and Music Theory, through us receive support for exploring digital methods as part of their research, an approach whose aims we share with other institutions we collaborate with, first and foremost the IU Institute for Digital Arts and Humanities.
