Clefs
Choralis Constantinus II includes an unusually large number of high clefs (later called "chiavette"). The numbers of each clef at the beginnings of pieces are as follows:
Discant: | g2-91; g3-10 |
Altus: | c2-18; c3-83 |
Tenor: | c3-96; c4-5 |
Bass: | c4-12; F3-88; F4-1 |
Clef combinations are not standard, and changes of clef both within verses and from one verse to the next are common. Altus and tenor are both in c3 clefs at the beginnings of 78 of the 101 pieces.
